Junior was born on December 5, 1938, in Blue Ridge, Georgia, to the late Lawrence and Laura Foster Bell. Scott Hurt (Robert Scott Hurt) was born in Muncie, Indiana on November 24, 1948 to Juanita Smith Hurt and Ernest Hurt Jr. He grew up in Highland and graduated from Highland High School in 1966.
